Restylane is an injectable dermal filler that adds volume to
the face and lips and reduces the appearance of fine to moderate wrinkles.
Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) which occurs naturally in the
skin and retains moisture and boosts natural collagen growth.
How Restylane treatment is performed
Restylane is an in-office treatment that takes about 30
minutes and requires topical or injected local anesthetic.
Your dermatologist will numb your treatment area with a
topical cream, or an injected anesthetic or nerve blocker. Your treatment area
will then be marked with a pen, and the Restylane is injected into your skin
using a fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula. The anesthetic used will ensure
your comfort during the injections.
Recovery and results
You may have some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising
around the injections that can last a few days. There’s typically no downtime
when treating wrinkles and folds, but injections in the lips can cause more
significant swelling that lasts for about a week. You’ll see your final results
once the swelling subsides. Results typically last six to nine months,
depending on the area that was treated.
