How SmartLipo is performed

SmartLipo is performed under local anesthesia and takes about one to two hours. Your doctor will numb the targeted area and inject tumescent anesthesia so you won’t feel any pain. Small incisions are made in your skin and a narrow tube with a laser at its end is passed under your skin. The laser heats and melts your fat while also firming your skin. Your melted fat is then suctioned away with a separate tube. Your incisions are then closed with adhesive strips—stitches are not required.

Recovery

You may need to take up to one week off of work depending on how much fat you had removed. Some people can return to their normal routine much faster though. Your levels of pain, swelling, and discomfort will vary depending on the extent of your procedure, but your recovery will be milder compared to traditional liposuction.
