What is TriActive?
TriActive is a cosmetic procedure that is non-invasive and uses a combination of low-energy laser and suction massage to reduce the appearance of sagging skin and cellulite and to enhance body contours and the overall appearance of the skin on the face or body. TriActive is commonly used to reduce sagging skin after receiving liposuction.
How does TriActive work?
TriActive combines laser, massage and localized cooling to reduce the appearance of sagging skin and cellulite. The localized cooling reduces inflammation and hydrates the skin as six laser diodes penetrate deeply into subcutaneous tissue to encourage collagen production and circulation. At the same time, a suction massage mechanism massages the skin and underlying tissue to promote lymphatic drainage, collagen production and circulation. The combination of these three elements provides an effective treatment for improving body contours, tightening skin, reducing fluid retention, enhancing toxin elimination and reducing the appearance of cellulite.
What are the advantages of TriActive over other similar procedures?
The most significant advantage of choosing TriActive over similar procedures is the combination of three proven treatments – suction massage, localized cooling and low-energy laser – to deliver optimal results in a few quick, convenient sessions.
Who is a candidate for TriActive?
Patients who are in good health and are not pregnant are generally good candidates for receiving TriActive treatments. Those who have health issues that may be negatively affected by increased lymphatic drainage, such as congestive heart failure, hyperthyroidism or asthma, will need to consult with their doctor to determine whether or not they are a candidate for TriActive.
How is the procedure performed?
The TriActive equipment is classified as a Class II device by the FDA, which means that this procedure can be performed in a medspa by an aesthetician or spa professional, as well as in a doctor’s office by a cosmetic physician. There are two separate handheld units, one for use on the face and one for the body. Because TriActive is a comfortable procedure with no required recovery time, no anesthetic or topical numbing creams are needed. The patient simply lies comfortably on a treatment table for the duration of the session, which can last between 30 minutes and one hour, while the TriActive practitioner moves the handheld unit over the area to be treated.
What is the recovery like?
In some rare cases patients may experience discomfort or swelling after a TriActive procedure. If this occurs, ice packs and over-the-counter pain medications are recommended. However, these cases are rare and most patients do not require any recovery time and return to work and regular activities immediately.
What will my results be like?
Noticeable improvement in the appearance of cellulite and sagging skin generally becomes apparent after the first five to seven treatments, with most patients realizing optimal reduction of cellulite and tightening of skin after 10 to 15 sessions. The results are temporary and monthly maintenance sessions are usually needed to continue to enjoy the benefits of TriActive.
What are the risks?
In rare cases some patients have reported bruising, changes in sensation, scarring, discomfort or swelling; however there are no known serious risks associated with receiving TriActive treatments.
Is the TriActive procedure approved for use in the U.S.?
TriActive has been approved for use in the United States since 2005. The FDA has classified the TriActive apparatus as a Class II device, meaning that this procedure can be administered by both cosmetic physicians and non-medical spa professionals.
Is the TriActive procedure covered by insurance companies?
Cosmetic procedures that are not considered medically necessary are generally not covered by medical insurance companies. Patients who wish to receive treatment without paying the total amount at the time of the procedure may want to inquire about financing options or payment plans.
How much does TriActive cost?
Several factors will determine the cost of receiving TriActive treatments, including individual provider fees and geographical location. In general, a series of 10-15 TriActive treatments will range in cost from $1,500 to $2,000.
