Blue Light Therapy and Dry Skin

Blue Light Therapy is helping patients with acne troubles finally take control of their skin. By helping to kill harmful bacteria on the skin and in the sebaceous glands, patients will see fewer acne breakouts and less shine on their face. Dry skin patients will be able to enjoy the results of Blue Light Therapy, however, they may have more side effects.

What Dry Skin Patients Can Expect

Those with dry skin often don't have a lot of trouble with acne, as they do not produce large amounts of oil in the skin. But, some will go through cycles where the skin produces even more oil to make up for the dry skin. Some may also have areas of dry skin with areas of oily skin.

In dry skin patients, the procedure can be a little painful afterward since the skin tends to be more sensitive. A patient with dry skin may have redness, tightness and swelling after the treatment. These effects are temporary, however, and a patient will be given instructions on how to handle them.

Even with dry skin, a patient can still have troubles with acne. But, with Blue Light Therapy, the acne can be reduced and the breakouts stopped.
