Sculptra in an injection used to improve the appearance of wrinkles caused by aging, that has been used throughout Europe since 1999. Sculptra has since been used in the United States since its approval by the FDA. If you are considering Sculptra, you may have concerns about the recovery time after using it. Here are the facts surrounding the recovery time after using Sculptra.
What to Expect for the First Few Days
After using Sculptra, you may experience any of the following symptoms in the area of treatment:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Pain
- Bruising
For most people, these symptoms go away after only a few hours or days. However, some cases are reported to last as long as 17 days. If you are treated with Scultra and experience any unusual or abnormal symptoms, be sure to see your doctor.
What to Do during the Recovery Process
While you may receive special post-treatment instructions from your healthcare provider, you should make sure to massage the area that was treated several times each day. In addition, sometime within 24 hours after treatment, you should place an icepack on the affected area. This can help reduce the swelling caused by the injection. Make sure that you wrap the icepack in a towel or some other piece of cloth and not expose it directly to your skin. You should also avoid sunlight or UV radiation until all symptoms have passed.
Other than the previously started symptoms, you should experience no delay of your normal activities. Resume your normal lifestyle without fear that you will lose any time due to recovery.
