Acoustic Wave Therapy for Men

Acoustic Wave Therapy, or AWT, was originally developed to treat pain, but is now used as a new way to treat unsightly cellulite.  It is a painless and noninvasive procedure that utilizes waves of pressure that impact both the fatty deposits that create a bulge under the surface of the skin, as well as the fibers of the connective tissue that pulls the skin tightly around those deposits.  AWT uses two types of waves: high energy pressure waves and a set of slower waves.  Paddles are applied to the area of concern while sending these acoustic waves to the tissues.  This helps break down fatty deposits for elimination and relaxes the connective tissue for a firmer appearance of the skin.

AWT Beneficial for Men

Men are not as susceptible to cellulite as women because their connective tissue structure is different. Most of the connective fibers in men are parallel to the skin so there is less pulling down from the surface. Some men do still have cellulite, however, and since the fat involved in cellulite is superficial, exercise and weight loss do not always successfully eradicate it.  AWT can help these men reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Even though males have thicker skin, the high energy waves create a change in the pressure of the fluids around the fat cells, thereby destroying them. The slower waves applied then increase circulation which allows the fat cells to be more easily removed through the urinary and lymphatic systems. Collagen production is also stimulated providing a smoother, firmer appearance of the skin.
